Can You Put Baby Lotion on Tattoos?
Baby lotion is designed to be mild enough to use on babies from birth. It’s a gentle moisturizer for use on delicate skin and it’s created to moisturize your baby’s skin for up to 24 hours.
You should always speak to your tattoo artist to ask their advice about aftercare for your tattoo as they will know what’s best.
We would certainly recommend baby lotion for use on your tattoo once it has started to heal and is no longer an open wound. However, we would not recommend it on a newly completed tattoo.
Baby lotion is a gentle moisturizer that is safe enough to use on your baby. It’s dermatologically tested and is designed to be mild for your baby’s skin.
However, as many baby lotions are not fragrance-free, we do not recommend them to be used on new tattoos. The fragrance in some baby lotions can irritate the tattoo and cause unwanted side effects.
Once your tattoo has started to heal and is no longer an open wound, it’s perfectly safe to use baby lotion and this will help to keep the area gently moisturized at all times.
For new tattoos, there are a large array of products and ingredients that can be applied to aid healing while remaining safe and effective.
The best tattoo lotion I’ve ever personally used is a vegan aftercare product called After Inked Tattoo Aftercare Lotion. This stuff works amazingly well during the healing process; not only by keeping your tattoo really well hydrated but also by soothing any annoying itching and irritation. When using it from the very start of the healing process, this lotion will help to decrease tattoo healing times and work towards eliminating any lingering dryness and scabbing. How to Use Baby Lotion on a Tattoo
Once your tattoo has started to heal you can apply baby lotion to the area. This may take up to six or seven days and the area will become dry and start to flake.
Before this happens you should regularly clean the tattoo area and moisturize using a tattoo aftercare lotion or fragrance-free lotion. The tattoo should be handled with care when cleaning, using only fragrance-free soap or cleanser. To dry the area you should pat it dry. Never rub as this may damage the tattoo and lead to fading or scarring.
How Often Should You Apply It?
Baby lotion can be applied several times a day and should be applied whenever the tattoo feels dry or starts to itch.
Always make sure that the area is cleaned before applying baby lotion and apply it with recently washed hands.
How Much Should You Apply?
You don’t want to block your pores in the tattooed skin or waste your product so you should apply only a thin layer of baby lotion each time. You can always apply more once the lotion is absorbed into the skin.
A little and often is the best way to go when applying any lotion to your skin for the best results.
How Long Should You Use It For?
Baby lotion can be used on adult skin as well as on baby’s skin as it offers great nourishing results.
This can be used on your tattoo once it starts to heal and can even be used on older tattoos to keep them moisturized. This will allow the tattoo to be in its best condition and will keep the colors as vibrant as when initially inked.
The aftercare of your tattoo is important and will help to keep it in the best condition and looking like new.
Baby lotion can be used once the tattoo starts to heal as it’s gentle to not damage the skin and nourishing enough to keep your tattoo moisturized.
We do hope we’ve answered your questions regarding the use of baby lotion on tattoos and wish you good luck with your awesome ink.
